What does a gutter cleaning include?
We clear the debris out of the gutters, flush them with water, and flush the downspouts so we can watch them drain. Leaves, needles, roof grit and seed pods all come out. If a downspout is backed up, we tell you and work on it.
How often should gutters be cleaned?
Twice a year for most homes. Late spring and late fall is a common rhythm, with the fall cleaning done before the rainy season. Homes under oak, pine or eucalyptus trees fill up faster and may want a third visit. A house with few trees nearby can sometimes stretch to once a year.
Hillside homes catch wind-blown leaves from a wide area. If you see plants growing in your gutters or water spilling over the edge in a storm, they’re overdue.
Can you clean gutters on a tile roof or two-story home?
Yes, and many valley homes are both. We work on the roof, we’re insured, and we step carefully on tile. Tell us the roof type and the number of stories when you ask for an estimate so we plan for it.
Do you check for damage?
We look. If we see a pulled hanger, a seam that’s separating, a sagging section or a downspout that’s come loose, we’ll tell you what we see. We don’t promise repairs as part of a cleaning.
How much does gutter cleaning cost?
Several things move the price. The number of stories matters because a second floor is slower and harder to reach. The total length of gutter and the number of downspouts matter. So does the amount of debris. A gutter cleaned twice a year is a lighter job than one left for years. Roof type and ladder access make up the rest. Estimates are free.
Do I need to be home?
No. We need access to the gutters. If there’s a gate, give us the code and we’ll handle the rest.
Who handles gutter guards and repair?
For guards, repair and other specialized gutter work, our sister company Gutter Spa Club specializes in exactly that. We clean. They do the guards and the repair.
Can I bundle gutters with other services?
Yes. We’re already on the roof edge for solar panel cleaning, so adding gutters saves a visit. They also pair well with window cleaning and house washing.
Why does it matter?
Gutters that can’t drain send water down the wall, onto the fascia, or into the planting beds below. A clear gutter and a flushed downspout let rain leave the roof the way it was designed to.
